Mill Description

The fourth mill of Kantou is located in fields with orchards and carob trees. It is built on the western slope of the Kourris river almost within the riverbed. To its west there are steep high hills from where the water would run down and be channeled into the elongated water channel. The surrounding area is dry and barren and full of stones similar to the ones with which the mill was built. The surviving buildings of the mill include the elongated water channel (almost 3m) and the rectangular watertower which has only one tier. The watertower has monumental dimensions, 6x6m. Its shaft has a circular diameter of 3m and the shape of an inverted truncated cone. The watertower and the water channel are built with limestone with dressed corner stones. The aqueduct of the water channel is supported by two buttresses. The rooms that hosted the grinding mechanism form an L-shape and are preserved at the height of the cornice of the building. In them are preserved the two millstones with iron hoops around them as well as the water spout. The facade of the building follows the typical characteristics of the local traditional architecture.
